This quote is all about the power of words. The words “I am” are three words together, but they sound like one. This is part of Humperdinck’s plan to trick Buttercup into thinking he is her Prince. But, when she finally says "I am your servant and I refuse," Humperdinck has no idea what she is saying.

It’s not until Buttercup says "I am you Prince and you cannot refuse" that he understands that the words have changed him into her Prince. After that, Humperdinck can no longer refuse to marry her.
