About This Quote

This quote comes from an old German story. The mother of the family had given birth to four boys. However, she was pregnant with her fifth child when she died. The family began to celebrate.

But, they were sad because the mother would not be able to attend the wedding of her other children. She had told them that the baby in her womb was a family skeleton. The skeleton was supposed to tell her when it was time to dance at the wedding.

When the baby was born, the mother saw that it still had a bone in its hand. She asked if her bones could dance at the wedding. After collecting money from everyone in the village for two years, the mother’s bones could dance at their eldest son’s wedding.
