Once people see you cry, it's like they own part of you. It's like you ripped a hole in yourself, and they saw through whatever armor you had on, got a good long view of all the screaming alien goop underneath.

About This Quote

The quote "Once people see you cry, it's like they own part of you. It's like you ripped a hole in yourself, and they saw through whatever armor you had on, got a good long view of all the screaming alien goop underneath." reminds me of the movie Get Out. In this movie, a young man named Chris (played by Daniel Kaluuya) visits his girlfriend Rose's parents' house. While there, he meets her mother Missy who seems almost obsessed with Chris.

She is also very controlling and manipulative, telling Chris that they will have sex which is against the rules. She also seems to be obsessed with Chris and at one point says that they are going to have a baby together. When Rose's older brother Dean sees Chris crying at their family home, Dean tells Rose that he saw Chris crying and that he also saw him crying when they were younger.

While this is happening, Rose’s father is outside trying to find out what’s wrong with his car. When his car breaks down, Rose’s mother tells him that she will take care of it as she claims that she is the “best mechanic in the world”. Her father then tries to talk to her about why he has been crying as well as saying how much he misses his mother who passed away when he was a little boy.

Shortly after this conversation, Rose's brother tells her that Chris was crying again and she goes outside to find him.
