About This Quote

In Shakespeare’s play “As You Like It,” two men from different classes, Touchstone and Orlando, have been friends since they were children. However, as their lives progress and their fortunes change, each man finds himself attracted to a different woman. When Orlando leaves for war against the French, Obstinate, a soldier his own age, comes back to find Orlando has married the woman he loves. Touchstone has come to love Rosalind – a woman who is prettier than Rosalind but not as smart.

Rosalind’s father is worried that her husband will leave her for another woman and he forbids him to be around her. But, their love for each other keeps them together secretly. There are many ways friendships can change but there are also many ways they can be strong and permanent.
