About This Quote

When an author writes about a relationship between two characters, it is often difficult to determine who the real villain is. For example, you may think that the antagonist of a book is the hero's ex-wife or his best friend who has betrayed him. However, if you know the characters well enough, you may find out that your original thoughts about them are wrong. It is possible to discover that the true antagonist was the hero himself.

This shows how much he has changed. All throughout the book, you see him struggling with his own demons and making mistakes that end up causing him pain or hardship for others, but he does it anyway.
