When you leave where God is sending you to somewhere else, your star will varnish. A lesson to learn here....don't go to Herod's house when you are looking for Jesus.

About This Quote

This quote is a popular saying associated with the life of Abraham. Abraham had a dream, and God told him that his descendants would be strangers in a foreign land, where they would have to prove their faith by their obedience to God. Abraham was going to go to Canaan, but God told him not to go (Genesis 22:15-21). Why? Because he was going to die there (22:15-19).

Why? Because he was old (22:17). What’s more, he would be giving up his only son Isaac (22:18-20), who would be killed (22:21). What’s more, he and his wife Sarah would be childless (22:18).

And what’s more, he was leaving all his possessions behind (22:14-20). What’s worse, God said that even the place where Abraham would die would provide a lesson for others. On the other hand, when you leave where God is sending you to somewhere else, your star will varnish.

This means that you will become more and more like the place where you spend most of your time. You will live out the values of that place and adopt its faults as well.
