When I was in school, I was always bad at math. I hated it so much that, when given an assignment to do, I would cry and plead with my teacher to let me do something else. The comfort of doing something that isn’t math gives you no incentive to improve. If you were good at math there would be the temptation to get better.
To get better you need to be challenged. You need to feel fear, to feel fear you must face fear. Therefore, fear is the path that mediocrity clears.
