The hand of God is wonderfully evident at those times when He pens stories whose lines we ourselves are far too fearful to pen or whose imaginations are far too limited to envision. And I would unashamedly suggest that the Christmas story is that very story.

About This Quote

The story of Christmas is a wonderful story; we can find evidence of God’s hand all over this world. For one, we see that God created the world and all that is in it, and that would just be the first thing we’d think of as “God-like.” We can also see that He uses human beings to help guide creation and those human beings are those who were born on Christmas Day. And God also gives gifts to these men and women and those gifts are what we think of as “Christmas presents.” It seems like we can point to God’s hand in so many ways at Christmas time, but we must never forget the other things we find in the story as well. For instance, many people think that God brought Jesus into our world to save us from ourselves.

In fact, though, this was a rather selfish view of the situation. As Peter reminds us in 1 Peter 2:21, “For even angels themselves do not give glory to man.”
