My mother was an avid reader. As were most of her female ancestors. As a kid, I would sit at her side and watch her read. I remember one day, she had taken out a book about the Titanic.

She had told me that this was her favorite book of all time. I remember that it was then that I learned two things: firstly, that the desire to read is as powerful as the desire to eat or drink. Secondly, that there is no such thing as a bad book - just badly written ones.
