To protest about bullfighting in Spain, the eating of dogs in South Korea, or the slaughter of baby seals in Canada while continuing to eat eggs from hens who have spent their lives crammed into cages, or veal from calves who have been deprived of their mothers, their proper diet, and the freedom to lie down with their legs extended, is like denouncing apartheid in South Africa while asking your neighbors not to sell their houses to blacks. About This Quote

I hear a lot of people protesting about a lot of things, but they never stop to think that the things that they are protesting against may be harming them or someone else. When I heard that a lot of people were protesting against bull fighting, I was very surprised as I thought it was something to be proud of as Spaniards have been calling the bulls “the most noble animals in our country” for centuries now. However, now it is being protested as barbaric and uncivilized. The Spanish have been eating dogs for years now and many people do not even know that dogs are actually livestock and should be treated as such.

I also read a story about a teenager who went to a restaurant in South Korea and ordered a bowl of dog meat soup after reading that it is prepared from dogs that have been raised in farms and then slaughtered. Another thing that surprises me is that despite the fact that many people do not like veal because they think that veal is the food of poor people, many people are still eating meat from calves raised on farms who are kept in cages their entire lives until the time they are slaughtered.
