About This Quote

In this quote from the book "The Road Less Traveled," psychiatrist and writer M. Scott Peck writes, "The most common challenge in life is the difficulty of being a good person in the presence of evil people." He says that while some people may feel good about themselves while watching a person being abused or harassed, they usually do nothing to help, even when they have a chance. This is a terrible failure on our part, but not a failure on God's part. God loves everyone and does not want anyone to suffer.

We humans make mistakes by failing to do the right thing when we have the opportunity to stop it from happening. We can help stop evil from taking place by speaking out against it when we see it happening. We can also do our part by speaking out against those who commit these evil deeds.

If we all did this, eventually the world would be a better place than it is now. Such is human nature--to take action when we see wrong happening--but not to take action when good is happening.
