About This Quote

I think the Bible has a lot of good advice, but I can’t agree with this one. Here’s what it says: “Do not envy a foolish man, nor be envious of a fool. For a fool gives full vent to his anger, while a wise man keeps it under control.” (Proverbs 23:7-8) While I enjoy the sentiment of loving both your enemies and your neighbors, I don’t think it’s the best way to live your life. In fact, I think it is almost more practical to love your enemies and let them be your neighbors.

If you get angry at someone who is doing you wrong, chances are they will get angry back at you for being angry at them. If you don’t have any enemies then you have no one to get angry at and that means that you will never know true happiness in life. It is better to be careful with whom you befriend and avoid people who might bring you down.
