About This Quote

Completely dependable. It is the pleasure of the flesh which is dependable. There are many pleasures in life, but they come and go. Pleasures of the flesh are more dependable because you can always find them.

You can enjoy them even when you are alone or when you are with more than one person. However, pleasure of literature is not dependable. Most of the time, it eludes you, because it depends on other people.

A writer’s work may be more useful to others than to himself or herself, so that only a few people will have an opportunity to reap personal enjoyment from any given work of literature.
