This line, from William Shakespeare's Hamlet, is a fine example of how to be wise with words. A story about the theatrical actor Hamlet is told right before this line. The actor had been playing the role of Hamlet for years, yet he was still unsatisfied with his performance. After the many rehearsals and performances, he was given an audience with the king.

When he stepped onto the stage, he was so nervous that his bowels released all over the audience. To make matters worse, when he told the audience that he had played Hamlet better than any actor in history, everyone laughed at him. Mind you, this man had played the role of Hamlet for years!
