The soliloquy is a good way to show how Hamlet is trapped in the dilemma of life. He does not know if he should live or die, but he knows that if he does not live, then someone else must die. So, the question is whether or not he should live. Shakespeare poses this question in a number of different ways throughout the whole play, which gives the reader an opportunity to contemplate the matter further.
