About This Quote

Charles Schulz, the cartoonist behind the Peanuts comics, once wrote this in a letter to his brother. You can almost hear the shrill tone of Charlie Brown’s voice in the very last line. The idea that life knocks us down and then walks all over us is a common sentiment among people who are depressed. The problem with this idea is that it is not only wrong but also quite dangerous.

Life doesn’t knock us down to ruin our lives or walk all over us. Instead, life gets knocked down to give us an opportunity to rise up and get up and walk forward. Life knocks us down so we can learn to be stronger and move on.
