In the little world in which children have their existence, whosoever brings them up, there is nothing so finely perceived and so finely felt as injustice.

About This Quote

When we think of children and their world, we often think of innocence and purity. We tend to think of them as little angels who should be cherished and protected. But, when we think of a child’s perception of injustice, it can be a very different thing. They see the world in a very real way that only a child can.

They know that they are not invulnerable. They can be hurt or disappointed or taken advantage of in ways that adults cannot possibly understand. What is going to happen when they grow up? How will they handle it? It is easy to say that children should stay innocent throughout life, but how realistic do you find this ideal? Children run through the world learning from their parents and other adults around them, growing up and developing into adults themselves along the way.

How much does childhood influence us in our adult lives?
