Parents view their children as a city that needs to be protected from the elements. Since they are unable to adequately do this, they instead choose to play the role of Batman. Parental protectiveness is a great thing for a child. However, it can also make a child feel smothered and stifled.

The idea of parents going out of their way to make sure their child is safe is a wonderful one. But, some children don’t want to be accompanied everywhere they go. Instead, they would rather be allowed to explore and discover on their own.

They need the freedom to learn by themselves and not be hemmed in by rules and regulations set forth by parents. When parents do allow their children to explore and learn on their own, the results are often incredible.
