About This Quote

A tree is an example of something that takes countless years, or even centuries to fully mature. The process of growing and maturing typically begins with a seed. A seed usually has no means of its own growth, so it must depend on the elements around it for sustenance. The word “patience” is derived from the Latin wordpatior, meaning “to bear” or “to tolerate.” As a tree grows, it must endure many different hardships.

Yet, if you look closely at the life of a tree, you will notice that not all of these hardships are bad. In fact, some are quite beneficial to the tree. For instance, when a tree is burned in a fire, it loses its leaves for a while.

But the tree will regrow them after it has muddled through the dry season. This is an example of how patience can make you stronger in the long run. When you suffer through difficulties in your life, you grow more patient and stronger.
