Only a very few can be learned, but all can be Christian, all can be devout, and — I shall boldly add — all can be theologians.

About This Quote

I believe that to be a good theologian you have to be learned. You need the right tools and knowledge to do the job well. However, as I mentioned in my last post, I do not think that all people who grow up as Christians should become theologians. What I want to say is that there are many other things we can do besides being theologians, and it does not exclude us from being good people and Christians.

Yes, we need to be learned and knowledgeable so we can do our job well. But, we also need to be devout and Christian. We need to show our love for God by how we live our lives and what we teach others.

We need to be devoted to God through prayer and worship. We also need to study theology so we can teach it well.
