Here is the point where David Hume and Thomas Paine begin to conflict. Hume’s philosophy is that we use reason and logic to determine truth while Paine’s is that we accept truth as it is presented to us without any attempt at rationalization or deconstruction. Maybe the Bible has value in some way but its value is entirely subjective. It can be used to justify absolutely anything depending on how you put it together and who you ask.
