I run after her, not really giving chase. I’m running because I can, because I must. Because I want to see how far I can go before I have to stop.

I run after her, not really giving chase. I’m running...
I run after her, not really giving chase. I’m running...
I run after her, not really giving chase. I’m running...
I run after her, not really giving chase. I’m running...
About This Quote

In a short story entitled “The Race” by Haruki Murakami, a man runs in a marathon with a girl. The race is described as being exhilarating and fantastic, but the man never catches the girl. In fact, he never gets close enough to her. She runs away from him.

In this case, the man is chasing the girl, but she is running away from him for no reason whatsoever. The man wants desperately to figure out why she runs so fast and so far away from him. Why does she run so fast? He wants to catch up with her, but he can’t.

What he sees in his mind’s eye is her running away from him, and that causes him to run after her even faster and farther than she is running away from him.
