No matter how much you love fighting with your sword, don't fight with it in real life. If you're going to be fighting with your sword in real life, use a weapon that isn't so sharp.
One time when I was in high school, I was fighting my friend about something and in the middle of our argument, his older brother came up behind me and tried to stab me. I was so mad I ran at him swinging both of my swords at him. He blocked both of them then stabbed my friend in the stomach (he had a knife).
Anyway, the point is that this quote is true however if your enemy actually has a sword also then you better run away fast because he will cut you before you can even think about fighting him back.
