I want you to wrestle with the Bible. Do it. Wrestle until, Jacob-like, you walk with a limp ever after, and you receive the blessing of the Lord.

About This Quote

The story of Jacob and his wrestling match with the angel appears in the Bible in Genesis 32:24-31. Jacob, a member of the tribe of Levi, was an old man and had been living in the region called Mesopotamia for many years. The region was known for its hot springs, which were used by kings to make themselves young again. In this particular spring, Jacob had been living for years.

The Lord appeared to him in a dream and told him to go back to his own country. When he awoke from his dream, he was afraid that God had sent him back to die in the land of Mesopotamia. But when he got up, he felt better and realized that God had made a way for him to return safely.

So he went back home and lived there until his death at the age of 147.
