About This Quote

When I realized the world was insane, I lost faith in it. It’s not that the world is insane all the time, but rather that it is insane at times and sane at others. There are times when it seems as though the world is normal enough to go on living as usual. When this happens, we tend to think that things will continue as they always have been.

And, even though we know that life doesn’t always continue as it has been, we tend to believe that things will eventually return to normal. And then, when we least expect it, we find out that we were wrong and everything has changed forever. It’s like a heart attack – you don’t expect it and you don’t know why it happens.

But once it hits you, you realize you never should have believed in the sanity of the world again.
