Poverty comes from the poverty of positive thoughts and creative ideas. This is one of my favorite quotes. To me, it really sums up the idea that it takes more than money to be happy. If you are not happy with your life, you can’t expect to make others happy.
Happiness comes from within and without, not inside yourself but in the world around you. When I was younger, I would watch the news on TV but felt very little connection to what was happening around me. People were starving in other countries just because they didn’t have enough food to feed themselves.
I felt very little connection to those people or their struggles. Now, I know that poverty happens when people don’t have enough money to feed themselves and pay for housing so they often don’t have enough money to buy food or housing materials. Poverty is something that happens when you don’t have enough money so your life is not as good as it could be.
Perhaps the biggest way we can fight poverty is by thinking positively and creating our own ideas of how life can be better for everyone.
