The Psalmist was a child when he first wrote this, and this is the way he felt then. He had no idea that God was not like that then; he had no idea that his heart was not steadfast. He did not know, any more than you do now, what word means. But he knew what it meant for his heart to be steadfast, and so he sang about it in this psalm.
