About This Quote

The story of 'Bitter Grapes' is about a girl named Jean who has a crush on her brother's friend, Jack. When she tries to convince him of her love, he rejects her. Desperate for him to notice her, Jean climbs up to the roof of their house and jumps off. Fortunately, Jack saw her fall and jumped after her.

Her mother sees the two struggling on the ground and runs to get help. When they arrive at the scene, however, they find Jack dead. His death was due to injuries he sustained trying to save his crush, Jean.
