About This Quote

In my world death will come chasing. In your world it will start whispering in your ear to destroy yourself. I know this because it started whispering to me when I was in the detention center. The things that I have been through in my life have made me a stronger person.

When I was a child I was taken from my parents against their will and separated from my siblings. When I was a teenager, my country went through a civil war that claimed thousands of lives. By the time I was on the brink of adulthood, my country became unstable and the government had turned into a dictatorship.

The people of my country were not free to speak out against their government and many were even executed for speaking out against their government on the wrong side of the fence. Today, my country is still under a dictatorship and we do not have freedom and democracy and we are still fighting for our freedom and democracy. Death has come to us several times since then and we have faced trials and tribulations, but we have risen each time we fell down.

Death is our greatest enemy but we must never give up fighting for freedom and democracy, because the only way you will get freedom and democracy is by fighting for it, not by waiting for it to come to you like a gift from above, but by hard work and persistence.
