You know Sven? The man who takes care of the gym?' he asked. He waited till he got a nod from Nicholson. 'Well, if Sven dreamed tonight that his dog died, he'd have a very, very bad night's sleep, because he's very fond of that dog. But when he woke up in the morning, everything would be all right. He'd know it was only a dream.' Nicholson nodded. 'What's the point exactly?' The point is if his dog really died, it would be exactly the same thing. Only he wouldn't know it. I mean he wouldn't wake up till he died himself. J.d. Salinger
About This Quote

The story is about a man who has a dog. The man's dog dies. The man is very sad and cries because his dog is dying. The man goes to the doctor and asks the doctor to help the man. The doctor says sorry but he can't help the man because his dog just died.

Then the doctor asks if the man has any idea how sad he would be if his dog died. Then the man asks what would happen if his dog really died... The doctor says he would be sad because he loved his dog very much... The story is about a man who had an old friend named Sven. Sven had a lot of dogs, and they had lots of fun together at the same place where they used to play when they were children.

One day, Sven was having fun with his dogs, but one of them fell into a hole. He had to jump in after him, but it was too deep for him to stop him from falling in, so he did what he could to save him. He had tried everything that was in his power, but then the poor little dog gave up trying to survive and just died in front of him.

Sven felt that there was nothing more that he could do for him, so he left for home crying and grieving over his lost friend. He walked all night long with tears running down his face and everyone around him was asking him what happened. He told them that one of his dogs fell into a hole and couldn't get out, so he tried everything that could be done for him but in vain...

But in the morning when he woke up, everything was all right again - all of his dogs were alive and well at home!
