About This Quote

Selling eternal life is an unbeatable business, with no customers ever asking for their money back after the goods are not delivered. For a long time I had been on a journey of self-discovery. In the process I have had to face many challenges, including questions of my own mortality and ultimate purpose. In my journey I have met many wonderful people who have helped me to discover answers to these questions and even more importantly, to uncover the power we all possess to make a difference. One of them was a man who was known by his pseudonym "The Oracle" and has become a dear friend.

He taught me that our true purpose in life is not to simply survive but to thrive and enrich our lives through service and love. I think that perhaps the most important lesson I learned from him is one that can be applied not only to our personal lives but also in our professional lives as well: "You must sell eternal life." In other words, we must live in such a way that we give others the gift of eternal life. We must recognize that we are here merely for a short time and we must work tirelessly so that when we leave this world, we leave it in a better state than when we entered it. We must strive to be at our best in every aspect of our lives so that when we leave this world, it will be remembered with fondness and admiration rather than pity and contempt.

We must work tirelessly towards making the world a better place than when we entered it. Everything else falls away in comparison to this truth:  we are here for such a short time—a time so short compared with eternity—and yet it is here where everything matters most. We can never look upon ourselves past this moment because if we do, then what is there left worth remembering? There is only now.

That's what makes everything important: now! When you think about it like this, you realize just how precious this moment really is, how incredibly short it is, and just how much you should value each moment as if it were your last. You cannot afford to waste any of them because they will all pass you by before you know it. You may not know what you will be doing or where you will be living tomorrow but one thing you can be certain of is that tomorrow will come…and take away everything you have ever worked for; everything you love; everything you hold dear; everything you hold dear…everything! And yet
