There is only one sin. and that is theft... when you tell a lie, you steal someones right to the truth.

Khaled Hosseini
About This Quote

In his novel, "The Color Purple," Alice Walker perfectly expresses the concept of "there is only one sin." In this book, Ms. Walker shows how the character Celie was robbed of her innocence when she found out about the lies that her stepmother was telling everyone about who she was, and who she really was. The fact that Celie's stepmother would lie about who she was in order to gain power and control over others showed a complete lack of respect for others and a complete lack of respect for Celie. This quote shows that no matter how much you try to hide your true personality from others, they will eventually find out.
