About This Quote

"Merciful death. How you love your precious guilt". This is a powerful quote from my favourite poet, Robert Browning. It talks about the fact that whilst most people try to avoid death they are terrified of it.

They think they will come face to face with their own sins and be forced to relive their darkest moments over and over again. It does not matter how many times they have lived through these moments, if they are guilty of what they are guilty of they will always be guilty. The best they can hope for is to be forgiven by God who is merciful.

"Merciful death" talks about the mercy that God shows us when we are faced with our own sins and need forgiveness.
