About This Quote

In this quote, the narrator is recounting their first meeting with the man that she would later marry. When he asked her what she wanted him to do, she said, “I need you to die tomorrow.” To me, this sentence highlights how unromantic and unromantic love can be. She needs him to die because if he does not, they will never be together. What was she thinking? If she had thought about it at all, she could have made an entirely different statement. Instead, she fell into the trap of taking all of her romantic foreshadowing literally.
