Sometimes, after a dream, you wake up and think to yourself that it wasn’t a dream. You know that your brain was so active and so vivid and so real and so...dreamlike. But there’s something different about this dream: it was like one of those memories that you don’t know if they’re real or not – but they feel real enough to be real. You feel like you remember your life, but you don’t know, because you don’t remember anything about your life before this dream.

And then, most of the time, you just fall back asleep and the dream goes away. Or sometimes you open your eyes and just go back to sleep because you feel sleepy and exhausted from all that dreaming. But sometimes, sometimes, what happens is this: you’re awake now but the dream goes on still.

It doesn’t fade away; it seems to keep going on forever even though everyone else is asleep and nobody else can see it except for maybe a few people who are wide-awake as well. And then sometimes, that’s how I feel right now: awake in a dream that I can only wake up from by waking up from this dream.
