The Christian should be characterized by an effort to see things in the best light; if it is true that the word Evangelos means good news, then Christian means happy man, spreader of happiness. 'Grim faces, ' Saint Philip Neri used to say, 'are not made for the merry house of Paradise! Anonymous
About This Quote

Saint Philip Neri was a 16th century Italian priest and the founder of the Oratorians, a religious order that formed in Spain in 1553. He was never afraid to voice his opinions and would often hold forth at length on what he considered to be sacred and proper Christian behavior. One of his most famous pronouncements concerned the expression of emotions. According to Philip, Christians should not scowl or frown, lest they give the impression that they are unhappy or unglad. They should instead smile and appear happy, like actors who play happy roles.
