In the novel by Kurt Vonnegut, Slaughterhouse Five , Billy Pilgrim is a man who has been abducted by aliens and taken into the future. The book tells the story of his bizarre experiences over the course of a day, starting with a visit to a place where time runs backwards and ends with a confrontation with his old friend Tralfamadore. In this quote, Billy is explaining how he has been abducted by aliens and taken into their future when they will live in a world without war. The idea of having your emotions controlled in order to make others happy is creepy, but Billy says that if we do not resist it, these aliens will control our emotions in order to make everyone happy.
