The poem "Up, then, fair phoenix bride" was written by William Shakespeare in the play "The Merchant of Venice." In this poem, Shylock and Jessica become engaged to marry. He says that his love for her will keep her warm and that she will take all of her sorrows out on him. He goes on to say that she will have enough love for all of the stars in the sky and that she will become a constellation of them all. As he finishes his speech about his love for her, he says that she is a new star that portends great wonders. He then says that she is those ends or those things that come to an end.
