When Leisel kissed Rudy Steiner at the end of her story, she showed that even though she had been through so much, she still wanted to be with him. She was willing to fight for him and be with him until the very end. She was willing to fight for her best friend and while doing so, she was able to show everyone how much she cared for him. While giving the kiss, Leisel did not say goodbye. Instead, she seemed to want to show that even though she had been through a lot at the end of A Ripple in Time, she was not afraid of death and would rather die with Rudy Steiner by her side then live without him.
