I grew up in an environment with loving parents. When I was young they told me that if someone hurt me I should keep it to myself because that person would only hurt me more. They also taught me that keeping my deepest feelings secret made it easier to tell others about them. It was a philosophy that helped with my relationship with my parents, but also with the people close to me.
