If people agree to do something, they are more likely to do it. If people believe that you came up with the idea, they are more likely to do it, even if you didn’t. For instance, when people agreed to go on strike in the UK in the 1930s, the government soon agreed to pay for their basic needs. Then, when people stopped striking for other reasons (jobs, etc.) the government stopped paying for their basic needs. This is because if people thought that was why they went on strike, then they would have fought harder against it.
