We should never present flesh as somehow morally distinguishable from dairy. To the extent it is morally wrong to eat flesh, it is as morally wrong – and possibly more morally wrong – to consume dairy

About This Quote

The ethical issues surrounding meat-eating are complicated. We tend to think of animals as members of the same moral community as people, but this is not always the case. The right to life is a basic human right, but not all animals share that right. Furthermore, animals are killed for food in many ways that are morally different from the killing of people.

For example, animals are often killed because they are born with defects. And although some humans do commit evil acts, it is not true that all humans do so. Therefore, eating meat does raise important moral issues, but these issues should not be separated from the issue of animal rights.
