Every day I worked harder and pushed myself more than ever before in order to reach my goal. After years of training, I finally received the call from Russia that I had been waiting for all this time. When I finally got on board the Soyuz-TMA-11 spacecraft, I felt like a king on his throne.
In our capsule, we were traveling through space at a speed of almost 17,000 mph. We were going three times faster than any man has ever traveled before in history. After liftoff, we traveled for six hours before reaching our destination: a docking port in Kazakhstan where we would meet up with another crew from Russia and continue on our way to space station Mir . In space, we have no gravity so it is very easy to float around freely after being weightless for so long. When we arrived at the station, we had an emergency situation with one of our navigation systems but we managed to get it fixed quickly and started preparing for our spacewalk.
In space you are always prepared because anything could happen at any time so you never know when you might need to take care of something quickly or if there is something that needs repair that doesn't take too long but you might need special tools or equipment that can't be provided by your exteriorside suit. This is where our spacewalk came in handy because everything inside our suits could be opened up so that we could easily access what was needed inside them or check out what was happening outside without having to leave the ship. The spacewalk lasted about six hours and four minutes which is equal to about four hours and twenty minutes on Earth right now since Earth's rotation is slowing down due to its distance from the Sun (a day here lasts longer than it does back on Earth).
