Man was designed in a way in which he must eat in order to give him a solid reason to go to work everyday. This helps to keep him out of trouble. God is wise.

About This Quote

The passage in which this quote is found is a short sermon by the Reverend David Watson. Watson was known for his humorous sermons, but in this particular one he takes a serious tone when he says that when man was created, he was designed with some useful qualities. One of those qualities was the need to eat. Before he began preaching, Watson said that he was walking by an apple tree and that some apples were ripe. He thought that the fruit looked good and would make a nice lunch, but then he thought that some people might think that it is not right to eat an apple on Sunday, so he decided to wait until Monday to eat them.

The more he thought about it, however, the more he realized that God had carefully created man so that man’s needs would motivate him to work. If there weren’t something to motivate him to work, then how could man be called a “man”?
