Alone with everybody the flesh covers the bone and they put a mind in there and sometimes a soul, and the women break vases against the walls and them men drink too much and nobody finds the one but they keep looking crawling in and out of beds.flesh covers the bone and the flesh searches for more than flesh.there's no chance at all:we are all trapped by a singular fate.nobody ever finds the one.the city dumps fill the junkyards fill the mad houses fill the hospitals fill the graveyards fill nothing else fills. About This Quote

When we read the poem "Alone with everybody" by Kurt Vonnegut, we see the city of love and companionship, but we also see a city that is empty and empty of meaning. The people in the city of love and companionship are all alone and can’t find their one. They infest their lives with empty pursuits and empty distractions. The only thing that fills them is flesh and bone, which ends up doing more harm than good.

They are trapped by a singular fate. Nobody ever finds the one. And this truth should be known because if they can’t find the one, there is no hope for them to live happy lives.
