I feel that telling my mother that hell is actually a real physical place is a bad idea. When you tell someone that they’re going to hell, you are basically telling them that there is no hope for them. If you have an older Christian person in your life it’s best to avoid telling them about hell. There are so many people who believe in hell and hell is a very touchy subject.

You can also be offensive by saying the Pope is gay. It’s not really something you should joke about because it could have serious implications on their faith. The best thing to do would be to find another way of explaining your faith without making them feel that it’s hopeless.
