I don't know what I believe anymore. If God does exist, then He's just an asshole, creating this world full of human suffering and letting all these terrible things happen to good people, and sitting there and doing nothing about it. At June's memorial service, a few people came up to me and said some really stupid things, like how everything happens for a reason, and God never gives us more than we can handle. All I could think was, does that mean if I was a weaker person, this never would've happened? Am I seriously supposed to buy that June's death was part of some stupid divine plan? I don't believe that. I can't. It just doesn't make sense. Hannah Harrington
About This Quote

The brain is an amazing thing. It’s capable of doing incredible things, but it’s also capable of doing some pretty stupid things. When most people think about God, they think about a benevolent being who is always there to help them, solving all of their problems and making everything right in the world. But when people feel like things are going wrong in their lives, they often look for answers in religion.

This is usually based on the fact that many people have found comfort in religion in times of pain or loss. But what do they really know about God? If He’s really out there and truly perfect, then how can He allow these awful things to happen? Why would He allow all the pain in the world, just so that some people can have a reason to go to church? It just doesn’t make sense.
