Follow me, reader! Who told you that there is no true, faithful, eternal love in this world! May the liar's vile tongue be cut out! Follow me, my reader, and me alone, and I will show you such a love!

About This Quote

Be a true friend! May the liar's vile tongue be cut out! Follow me, my reader, and me alone, and I will show you such a love! A true story of this quote is as follows: When Helene was a little girl, she witnessed her father being beaten by her mother. Her mother had been abandoned by her husband and he had taken back all the money that her husband had given her. Her husband then decided to take the little Helene as his wife, although she was a little girl of only 5 years of age. The couple moved from one village to another, never staying for long.

After a couple of years, they settled down in a village where there were many people from the same village as they were. In this village there was also a man called Makhlouf who was very cruel and thoughtless towards others. During one day when Helene’s father had gone out to find some work, he found that Makhlouf was planning to rape his wife.

He warned her about it and told her not to go home without him and turned back and went straight to Makhlouf’s house and challenged him to fight him for his wife’s honour. The two men fought with their fists for some time until they both fell down. The next morning they both woke up sick and weak as they had both been very drunk during the night.

Makhlouf said he was so ashamed of what he had done that he would go away and never return again but told them that if anyone ever saw him in that village then he will be killed on sight because of what he did to them. The two men then left the village and never returned again.
