The position of the Atheist is a clear and reasonable one. I know nothing about ‘God’ and therefore I do not believe in Him or in it; what you tell me about your God is self‐contradictory, and therefore incredible. I do not deny ‘God, ’ which is an unknown tongue to me; I do deny your God, who is an impossibility. I am without God. Annie Besant
About This Quote

The position of the Atheist is a clear and reasonable one. I know nothing about ‘God’ and therefore I do not believe in Him or in it; what you tell me about your God is self‐contradictory, and therefore incredible. I do not deny ‘God,’ which is an unknown tongue to me; I do deny your God, who is an impossibility. I am without God.

In this quote, Voltaire rejects the notion that there is a Creator. The way that he states that there is no creator was by stating that he does not believe in God. However, he also states that he does not believe in the idea of a Creator, because there is no logic to it.

This idea behind the lack of logic behind a creator was first seeemed by Immanuel Kant who stated that a creator should have a rational mind and a sense of morality. The idea of a God should have all these qualities as well as being logical, making it impossible for a creator to exist without being logical as well as having all these qualities.
