Nothing but prayer can make saints because nothing but God can make saints, and we meet God in prayer. Prayer is the hospital for souls where we meet Doctor God.

About This Quote

It’s true that prayer is a hospital for souls. That is, we can help individual people and in the process find God and his love in the world. However, in order to be a saint we need more than just prayer. We need faith in God and faith in our brother and his ability to change.

We also need to be willing to forgive when we’ve been wronged by someone else. And, most importantly, we need our faith in God to lead us to do what is right and kind even when it costs us something.
